The nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation

 A nonprofit organization founded by Taraji P. Henson in honor of her father, Boris Lawrence Henson. Mr. Henson suffered with mental health challenges as a result of his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Their vision is to change “the perception of mental illness in the African-American community by encouraging those who suffer with this debilitating illness to get the help they need.”

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

This agency is within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In its effort to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness, SAMSA leads “public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation and to improve the lives of individuals living with mental and substance use disorders, and their families.”
